Product Review Condenser said: Product Review CondenserSelected from Universal Music’s extensive catalog to reflect the renewed global interest in Japanese crossover and fusion, this limited first-press release highlights works that have rarely or never appeared on analog and are expected to meet strong vinyl demand, including growing inbound interest, with each title presented on colored vinyl designed to complement the jacket artwork; amid a broader resurgence driven by artists such as Masayoshi Takanaka, Jun Fukamachi, and CASIOPEA, alongside renewed appreciation for aficionados’ favorites and avant-garde acts, younger listeners are embracing the genre with fresh sensibilities, further fueled by trends in ambient, techno-leaning, and soundtrack-like listening experiences, as well as attention garnered by projects like the CROSSOVER CITY compilation; this edition features Kiyoshi Sugimoto’s 1978 album L.A. MASTER, his fully self-composed and arranged crossover statement following earlier work with the Terumasa Hino Group and Akira Ishikawa Count Buffaloes, performed with an exceptional lineup including Yasuaki Shimizu on sax, Haruo Togashi and Jun Fukamachi on keyboards, Akira Okazawa on bass, Yuichi Togashiki on drums, and Tsunehide Matsuki on guitar, showcasing Sugimoto’s precise playing and refined musical sensibility, and presented here in it’s first reissue with remastering and cutting by Katsutoshi Kitamura of Mixer’s Labo on clear sky-blue vinyl.
